Derrick Erving Brown's Obituary
Derrick Erving Brown, affectionately known as “Chubbay” and “Doodah,” was born on January 9, 1956, in the Bronx, New York, to the late William and Pauline Brown. He was their only child.
Following his high school graduation, Derrick continued his education at Morgan State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. While there, he became a proud and dedicated member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., a brotherhood he cherished deeply and in which he recently attained Life Membership.
Derrick met his wife in New York City, and they were married on February 14, 1986. Their enduring union remained a testament to love and commitment throughout his life. Derrick was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend—someone you could always depend on. He provided unwavering support to his family and friends until his health began to decline.
On April 23, 2026, Derrick peacefully transitioned, surrounded by his loving family. He will be remembered for his kind gestures, warm personality, and compassionate spirit. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Derrick was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pauline Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife and daughter, Mary and January Brown, along with a host of devoted relatives and dear friends.
