Derrick, my buddy..I will have to rely on the memories to hear you laugh and joke. You were really good at making fun of real life situations. All who knew and worked with you at Verizon will miss you. You were and still are special.
It would be so hard to pick one memory of Derrick. He was always a part of my life when the time he was born. He was the son my mother never had, and that never changed not even after my brother was born. As we got older, Derrick and I would have long talks about everything. He shared with me how happy he was to have found the love of his life. The day he called to tell me his daughter was born, he could not stop laughing because he was so happy. Whenever we talked he would always start off the conversation with “Hey Cuz” and start laughing. Oh that laugh!!! Derek was so sweet and kind and ever so gentle. He was so supportive of me, my mother and my daughter. My dear Derrick!!
I will miss you Cuz. Rest in peace.
Derrick was man of quiet strength, presence and sweetness. Our interactions were typically brief but always heartfelt and loving. I am grateful for every time we got to exchange a hug and a smile. may Derrick's memory be a blessing and his loving way inspire many.
I will deeply miss Derrick. He was one of the trio of father figures in my life and to lose him hurts deeply again. We were very lucky to have been in each others lives and to bless one another with love and support when it was needed most. My fondest memory of Derrick was the last Thanksgiving we spent together. Although it was emotional, I'm so glad we were together. This particular holiday, he stayed a little longer and just cherished those moments. The kids were being silly as usual and we just looked at eachother and smiled because it was a very special moment. It was a house full of life & love at that second! May you rest in peace our beloved Derrick. I love you and will miss you.
Derrick was a good friend to the Sullivan family. He became family quickly.We have known Derrick for 30+ years and knew him to be a most trusted loyal kind man. My Allen and Derrick were friends who talked on the phone constantly like brothers so Derrick was a great source of support when Allen passed. I will miss his enthusiastic warm hugs and sweet soft spoken voice that spoke volumes of his spirit.

I thank you for showing me that to be remembered you don’t have to be loud, the type that take’s over a room…sometimes you can still be quiet but have a heart so pure that is louder the rest, so gentle, kind, genuine and compassionate. You will forever be remembered as a good, solid human being. The world was a better place because you were in it. I will love you forever! Rest peacefully in God’s loving arms until we meet again!
I had the pleasure of knowing Derrick for practically my whole entire life. He was there for most of my childhood years, adolescent years, and adult years. Like a second father to me. My fondest memory of him will always be ….when I would see him he would greet me with a huge hug and say “Nickyyyyy” with his sweet voice and so much excitement. I will always cherish that memory of him cause it always brought a huge smile to my face. Will miss those hugs! Love you and miss you Derrick! May you rest in eternal peace with my daddy.
