Veronica Callaway Muhammad, departed this life on May 29, 2026. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Veronica was born on January 11, 1968 in Newark, NJ to Zelinda Gaddy and the late Edward Gaddy. She was known to many as “Ronnie” or “Malikah”.
Veronica graduated from Vailsburg High School in 1986 where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. She accepted Islam as a teenager and remained a devoted registered member of the Nation of Islam.
Veronica went on to work with many companies over the years including Pathmark, Dunkin Donuts, ShopRite and The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where she was honored with the name “Mother Love” by her colleagues and friends.
Veronica entered into marital union with Willie Muhammad on May 8, 2013.
Her daughter Attiyyah was the light of her life, her greatest treasure and they shared a very special bond.
Veronica was a very vibrant, kind hearted and generous soul that would give to anyone in need. She also loved to read and was a member of numerous book clubs and groups. She had a wealth of knowledge and served as a resource for many in her community. Veronica loved watching football, especially her Ohio State Buckeyes & NY Giants. Veronica also loved fashion, cooking for people, studying, reading, bowling, to laugh and have a good time.
Veronica was preceded in death by her father Edward Gaddy, grandfathers Emmett Gurley and Willie Gaddy; grandmothers Blossie Gurley and Elouise Gaddy.
Veronica leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving mother, Zelinda; husband, Willie; daughter, Attiyyah; bonus children,Tyree, Theresa and Tatianna; grandchildren, Jahyr, Ameer, Anaiah, Neveah and Jessiah; sister, Cynthia and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews & nieces and a host of extended family friends that were all touched by her loving spirit.
Though Veronica’s physical presence may no longer be with us, her love, laughter and legacy will live on forever.
