Trudi Johnson's Obituary
Trudi Renee Johnson was born May 7, 1965 to the late Louis Sr. and Gertrude (Bettye) Johnson in Montclair, NJ. Trudi participated in many activities growing up including her many years of dance at Marie Wildey School of Dance and her early love of basketball and music. Trudi graduated from Montclair High School in 1983. Trudi continued to live in Montclair during her early adulthood and gave birth to her one and only daughter, Stephanie in 1985. Trudi ventured out and left Montclair and finally settled on living in East Orange. Trudi re-evaluated her life after moving and turned her life over to God as well as made a change for the better with the help of Narcotics Anonymous in 1995. During her many years in East Orange, she earned her CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) and worked at the East Orange Methadone Clinic, The Isaiah House, Family Connections, East Orange General Hospital and most recently worked at the United States Postal Service in Kearny where she worked as a Mail Processing Clerk until she retired in October 2025 and continued to volunteer as Union Representative. Trudi had a love for all music; especially house music, the Dallas Cowboys, traveling, taking pictures, sneakers; but most importantly her family. Trudi was predeceeded in death by her brothers Gregory Trainer, Robert Trainer, Van Johnson and Louis Johnson, Jr. Trudi is survived by siblings Steven Trainer, Wendy Dickens and Penny Johnson, her daughter Stephanie Yvonne Johnson-Fuller (George Fuller), dog baby Skye Johnson, granddaughter Nyla Estelle Johnson-Coram, grandsons Tyson Louis Fuller and Ryan Floyd Fuller, a host of nephews, a niece, cousins, and many other beloved relatives and friends who knew her for her community engagement, huge giving heart, selflessness, infectious smile and her love for house music.
