Robbie Leake's Obituary
Robbie Walker Leake affectionately known as “Robbie” sadly passed away on the morning of
January 23th, 2025. Robbie was born on January 18th, 1939, in Cincinnati Ohio to the late Mary
E. Wallace and Thomas C. Walker. She was the elder sister of Juanita M. (William) McElroy.
Robbie relocated to Newark, New Jersey where Robbie grew up with a host of family and friends.
Robbie enjoyed spending time listening to family stories from her maternal Aunts and Uncles.
She attended Weequahic High School and she married her beloved husband Ernest G. Leake Sr.
in 1958 in Jersey City, New Jersey.
She later went on to attend the Community College of Philadelphia where she obtained her
nursing license. She went on to pursue a career in nursing at multiple facilities over the next
thirty-seven years. Robbie was a spiritual, compassionate, and generous woman. She often would
donate clothing, supplies, food, and monetary items to people in need. She also enjoyed fellowship
with her sister, cousins, and aunts over games and dinner.
She was a proud member of the North Stelton AME Church that she faithfully attended every
Sunday and served on the stewardess committee when she was in good health. Additionally, she
loved to read the bible, sew, do crossword puzzles, tell stories about her life memories, and spend
time with her cats Bella and Prince.
Robbie is survived by her children: Gia (Jesse) Riddick, Ina (late Alan) Greene, Malik (Veronica)
Akbar, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robbie is preceded in death by her husband
Ernest G. Leake Sr., her son Ernest G. Leake Jr., her daughter Bonita Leake, her mother Mary E.
Wallace, her father Thomas C. Walker, her sister Juanita M. (William) McElroy, a host of cousins,
aunts and uncles.
