Peter Hayden Boyden's Obituary
Our beloved, Peter Hayden Bowman was the youngest of 6 children born to Frances Jane and Charles Bowman in Plainfield, NJ. Soon thereafter, the family moved to Harlem, New York. While in Harlem, Peter was educated during his elementary school years in New York City School System. As a teenager, the family moved to East Orange, NJ where Peter graduated from East Orange High School in 1961. After high school, Peter then joined the Army. Peter received an honorable discharged from the Army in 1962. Peter attended Long Island University where he studied Business Administration.
Peter was introduced to his future wife Roslyn, by er twin brother Robert; and they were later married in 1974. From this union they had their only child Veda. As newlyweds, they settled at 32 So. Munn Avenue. While there, he worked as a Social Worker for DYFS. In the mid 1980's, the family moved to 67 So. Munn Avenue.
Peter later worked as an Environmental Cleaning Specialist along with his brother Guy. His working career ended in the 1990s as a Security Guard for Orange Memorial Hospital. Peter also helped raised his niece Siobhan in 1993 where he provided him with excellent, loving care in the last months of his life. There, he was able to watch movies and listen to music such as Motown and other music.
he was and avid book reader, especially science fiction, where he would read for hours. He was also known to talk a lot. He enjoyed watching Star Trek and Alfred Hitchcock. He loved to tell corny jokes and enjoyed politics. He was also a loving father who fiercely loved his only child Veda, but adored his two grand children, Reginald Jr. and Ryan, even more. He was known as Pop Pop.
