Mervyn's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Mervyn St. Isidore Henry
(April 4, 1943–January 30, 2026)
Mervyn St. Isidore Henry, a devoted husband, father, and skilled craftsman, passed away
on January 30, 2026. Born on April 4, 1943, in San Fernando, Trinidad, he was the youngest
of two sons born to the late Anthony and Hilda Henry.
Mervyn was a man of intellect and practical skill. He earned an Associate’s degree in
Electrical Engineering from the International Correspondence School, a foundation that
supported his lifelong work with his hands. A pipefitter and pipefitter foreman by trade, his
professional career spanned many years across various oil refineries throughout the
continental United States and its territories, where he was respected for his expertise, work
ethic, and leadership.
Beyond his professional life, Mervyn was a builder at heart. His passions included car
repair, woodworking, and the construction of homes and small structures. He also had a
distinct fondness for watching wrestling. Though a man of few words, his presence was
always felt. He loved a good party and deeply cherished time spent laughing, celebrating,
and enjoying life with friends and family.
Mervyn was the proud father of five children—Ricardo, Caliste, Austin, Angela, and
Melvin—whom he shared with Edith Yvonne Young. Through them, he built a lasting legacy
that continues to grow. He was a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather to over 20
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In his later years, Mervyn found renewed love and companionship when he remarried
Yvonne Parris in December 2024. Together, they shared his final years in happiness, peace,
and love.
Mervyn leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Yvonne Parris; his children; his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his extended family; and the many friends whose
lives he touched throughout his journey.
