Lumenes Raymond was born on a Wednesday, July 16, 1958, in one of the largest cities of Haiti,
Gonaives. He was one of the 21 siblings of his late father Fleurissaint Raymond and the 7 th of the
12 children of his late mother Acephie Vincent. He grew up in Desdunes and went to the national
school of Grand-Desdunes and then moved to Port-Au-Prince, where he attended high school.
In his early 20’s he had his first son Pierre Richard Raymond. In 1980 he moved to the US where
he had his first daughter, Micheline Raymond. During his back-and-forth travels to Haiti, he had
his other children, Wescarline R. Elie, Flag Lumens Raymond, Anne Sophie Joseph Raymond,
Prince Zelot Lumenes Raymond, and Bekens Raymond.
Lumenes travelled to the US with a business mind, he never wanted to depend on one income as
the head of the household and for his family. Therefore, he began his own shipping business,
owning his boat to ship cars from Miami to Haiti. He also became the founder and sole owner of
“Mont- Carmel Lottery” in many cities of Haiti. He also invested in some transportation business
and was the principal lender for many small business owners in the US and in Haiti. Lumenes
was a clever man, a hard worker, an entrepreneur, and was often referred to as the backbone of
the family. He had a positive impact on anyone in his surroundings, because of his desire to help
them.
Lumenes Raymond is preceded in death by his mother, his father, nine siblings and several
nephews and nieces. He will be deeply missed by his seven children: Pierre Richard Raymond,
Micheline Raymond, Wescarline Raymond Elie and her husband Jamesley Elie, Flag Lumens
Raymond, Anne Sophie Joseph Raymond, Prince Zelot Lumenes Raymond, and Bekens
Raymond. His nine grandchildren: Trinity Raymond, Woobens Jean Baptiste, Terrance Thomas,
Taliyah Cherubin, Sheerah-Andeena C. Salomon, Deandra C. Salomon, Leyca S. Elie, Tristan
Loiseau, and Jayleena K. Elie. His adoptive kids and his life companion, Marie Paul. The mother
of his children, Clersina Etienne, Myola Behrmann and Vales Seguy, Gerda Telisier, Marie
Cassamajor, the mother of Prince Zelot and Antoinette Simon. His 13 siblings and their families,
his nephews and nieces, the extended Raymond and Vincent family all his friends and anyone
affected by his sudden and sad departure.
