Kaasim Ibn Martin Onque's Obituary
With heavy hearts, the Onque family would like to announce the transition of Kaasim Ibn Martin Onque,
affectionately know as Ibn, on December 16, 2025 at Newark Beth Israel Hospital. Kaasim was born to
Juanell Onque-Ward and Martin Dawkins on October 15, 1991 in Newark, New Jersey.
He attended Malcolm X Shabazz High School, where he graduated in 2009 and pursued a career doing
armed security for Sterling Security Company. Kaasim enjoyed spending time with his children, family
and friends in his spare time. Kaasim loved to sit in front of his aquarium playing his game and let’s not
forget about betting on Fanduel with his brother.
Kaasim was a genuine, reserved and loving man who leaves behind a strong legacy. Kaasim was a
devoted and beloved son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Kaasim leaves to cherish
his memories, his step-father, Victor Lamont Ward; his three children, Znaya Inisa Onque, Nalina Lee
and Nasir Onque. His sibilings, Zakkiiya Onque, Robert Mitchell, Trarell Rogers, Sha-Rai Rogers, Shamyah
Brown, step-sister Kathleen Jones and his nephew Chozen Mitchell. His aunts; Wendella, Lasandra,
Siqirah, Hasana, Shaheedah and Meisha Onque, Lisa Parker and Linda Dawkins. His uncles, Kareem
Abdul Gary, Michael Dawkins and Kim Dawkins. His god-sisters, Danaa Ross and Enaysia Green. His best
friend Elijah Holden and a host of cousins and friends whom he truly loved. Kaasim was proceeded in
death by his grandparents.
We will continue to keep his name and memories alive through all of his loved ones.
