Irvin Crawford's Obituary
Mr. Irvin Crawford, 91 years of Newark, NJ passed away April 21,2020. Mr. Irvin Craford was also known as
"Red" and Pop to so many others. He was the son of the late Fannie K. Baldwin-Crawford & Major Crawford Sr. Red was born on August 29, 1928 in Damascus, GA. He left Georgia when he was a young man, lived in Palatka, FL before moving again and settling in Newark, NJ.
Red was a business owner as well as a master carpenter, which is where most of his passion laid. He always worked hard. There's a saying "that he never really retired" because he still would create, assist, and fix projects for family and friends. His love, loyalty dedication, humor, and laugh were genuine qualities that made him so special. He had a toughness about him in regards to being stern but he was just as soft and had a tenderness about him which we all knew so well. There"s nothing he wouldn't do to help someone in need.
Red loved to go fishing with his son and his buddies. He loved going to the park and spent a great deal at Weequahic Park. There you would batch him walking around the pond, fishing, and'or playing cards with his friends. He loved spending time with his grand kids, listening to music and shopping. He always had a dog. He walked his dog around the block everyday and everyone knew him. He sadly leaves behind a blond colored, re-nose pit-bull who will miss him dearly.
Red genuinely had an affect on everyone he came in contact with, strangers as well as family and friends. He was a fixture in the neighborhood that can't be replaced and in many ways he also was the glue that connects the Northern nd Southern family members together. Because of that, he will be missed by everyone.
As he transitions on, left on earth to mourn him are his children Sandy, Earl, Joy, Kurt, Irving, Major, Alvin, Wanda, Edwina, and Earlene-His sisters: Ruby Phillips and Vivian Crawford as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grand kids, and great grands.
