Reflection of Life
Herbert Womack was born January 23, 1944, to the late Jessie and Daisy Womack in Newark, NJ. He entered God’s eternal rest on Thursday, November 23, 2023. He was the youngest of 16 children. He was known as “Uncle Herbie”.
Herbie attended the Newark Public Schools, Bergen Street Elementary School and Southside High School and graduated in 1962.
Herbie was strong, loving. friendly and dedicated to his family and friends. He was employed by the Waterfront Commission as a Longshoreman until he retired.
In the late sixties, Herbie met and married the late Geraldine Womack and from that union two children were born. He was loyal to his family. He provided home cooked meals and loved a clean home. His daily routine was check-ins with his family and friends. His hobbies included gardening, watching sports and he was a die-hearted Redskins fan aka (Washington Commanders).
Herbie was preceded in death by parents: Jessie and Daisy Womack, siblings James Edward Womack, Eugene Womack, Angela Dawkins, Austin Womack, Gloria Curry, Donald Womack, Ira Womack, Jessie Mae Marable and William Womack.
Herbie leaves to cherish his sibling: Rose Womack; his son Ras Omar Kush, daughter Toi D. Womack, grandchildren, Taiesha and Tanisha Womack, Mekonnen, Maryam and Meru Kush and his great granddaughter, Meagan Johnson and a host of nieces and nephew.
