Florette Major's Obituary
In the Loving Memory of Florette Major,
Florette Major was born on February 2, 1965, and
transitioned on August 9, 2025. Florette was affectionately
known as Bas or Flo, she attended 14 th Ave School in
Newark, which she then transferred to Camden Middle
School and finally West Side High School. Florette worked in
the Newark School System for many years until moving on to
Montclair State University in the Food Service Department,
she has left an invaluable imprint on all who knew and loved
her. Florette definitely was a “firecracker” if you were on her
bad side you would know, but she was very loving and caring
to all who she encountered. Florette had no biological children of her own, but she held a
special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, some more special than others, lol.
Florette has a host of family and friends that will miss her
dearly, Ruby Major (mother), Charles Houston (Father)
deceased, Denise Woods (Sister), Dimetria Major (Sister),
William Major (Brother), Christopher Major (Brother), Robert
Major (Brother), Roberta Major (Sister), Angel Hill (Sister),
also her live-in companion and best friend Bella, her dog.
Florette has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
that loved her and will truly miss her greatly.
