Donald L Wells' Obituary
Donald L. Wells (affectionately known as “Nugget” by his family) was born on June 6, 1972, in Newark
NJ. He was one of three children. The oldest son of Donald L. Coleman and Denise Coleman. He
departed this life on Thursday, August 10, 2023.
Donald grew up in Newark and graduated from Barringer High School in 1990. Donald was extremely
smart and excelled in Math. He briefly attended NJIT but decided to enter the workforce when he learned
he was going to be a father. In February of 1992, Donald welcomed his only daughter, Tatyana. Donald
loved being a father and made it a point to make sure his daughter was well taken care of. He had a
beautiful spirit and was loved by everyone who knew him.
In the early 2000’s, Donald followed his brother to Virginia and spent the latter part of his life as a resident.
Donald loved listening to old school hip hop and spending quality time with his brother, his family and
friends in VA and NJ. That is where he met and fell in love with his girlfriend Stephanie Grigsby Clayton
whom he lived with at the time of his passing.
Donald took pride in everything that he did. He worked for CSX as a conductor and graduated at the top
of his class for the job. He loved to help people and make them feel good about themselves. He was
always smiling.
Donald was preceded in death by his beloved father, Donald L. Coleman. He leaves to cherish his
memory, his daughter, (Tatyana Wells); his mother (Denise Coleman); his brother (Derrick Coleman)
niece (Rosaria) nephews (Emanuel, Donovan and Dominic), his sister (Denisha Coleman) nephew
(Ramel) and a host of other relatives and friends.
Although he is no longer with us on this earth, his memory will
continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him dearly.
