Derek Marquis Mack, born on July 15, 1989, in Newark, NJ, embarked on a life rich with adventure, love, and determination. Raised by his devoted parents, Katina Mack and Marc Edward. Derek's journey began with a year in NC alongside his G.G. before settling in New Jersey. His early years were shaped by the East Orange Public School System, where he graduated from East Orange Campus High School in 2007.
From a young age , Derek's love for life was evident as he immersed himself in the East Orange's Recreation Football. As a skilled football player, he left a lasting mark on the field, journeying as far as Canton, Ohio, and San Francisco for championship games. beyond athletics, Derek's passion for Music led him to the world of DJing, a craft he shared with his father since the age of 12 and later with his cherished niece, Destinee, fostering a legacy that led to her dance in music videos for well known DJs.
Professionally, Derek was a force to be reckoned with, exemplifying diligence and ambition. His career spanned various roles from canvassing neighborhoods for a city councilman to ascending the ranks at UPS, where he earned recognition and praise for his exceptional leadership. Recently, Derek worked at North American Pipeline Services, LLC. alongside Uncle Cedric. Derek founded Creative Brothers, which is still thriving today.
Yet, Derek's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. A pillar of strength and protection. He cherished his parents, guided his sisters, and embraced the profound love of fatherhood with the birth of his son, Keion, and daughter, Laiyah in all parts of his life. Derek's legacy endures through the cherished memories he leaves behind. Though preceding in death by his beloved son, Dylan, grandparents; Dorenda Mack Powell, Charlie V. Ward, Dorothea Edrds, Josh Burr, his great grandparents; Margaret B. Mack, Charlie W. & Rebecca Ward and Ruth Nias. He leaves to cherish his memories his parents Katina and Marc, his 14yr old son Keion (mom, Keviska) and his 3yr old daughter Laiyah, (her mother and life partner ) Victoria and her 2 sons. His sisters Anaiyah and Khadesia, grandfther Robert Singleton, 6 uncles, 4 aunts, 5 nephews, 2 nieces, 1 great nephew and a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
In every part of his life, Derek forged enduring bonds, cultivating lifelong friendships that enriched his journey. From the vibrant community of Arcadian Gardens to the camaradery of the East Orange Rams and his DJ Family, Derek's impact is seen far and wide.
