Denise June Coleman's Obituary
Denise J. Coleman was born on February 23, 1956 in Newark, NJ. Denise (Niecy) lived a life filled with love and laughter. She passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Daughter of Joyce Wells and Dennis Gardner, Niecy was the eldest of nine children and grew up in a large, loving family. In 1976, she married her sweetheart Donald Coleman and together they had three wonderful children Donald, Derrick and Denisha.
A dedicated worker, Niecy spent over a decade at West Orange Brass before retiring from Clara Mass Medical Center after 19 years of faithful service. She was known for her strong work ethic and her kindness to colleagues.
Niecy found joy in life’s simple pleasures: family gatherings with her sisters, playing cards, bingo, dancing, watching a good lifetime movie and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild. Her phone calls with her children were moments she deeply cherished.
Niecy’s love and spirit lives on in her children, Derrick and Denisha Coleman; her grandchildren, Tatyana Wells, Ramel Coleman, Emmanuel Pimentel, Donovan Coleman, Rosario Coleman, and Dominic Coleman; and her great-granddaughter, Lilliana Rizqui. She is also survived by her sisters: Terri Coleman, Betty Ann Gardner, Linda Gardner, Cherry Gardner, Pamela Gardner, and Valerie Gardner. She was preceded in death by her son Donald Wells, her brother Dennis Gardner III, and her sister Renee Gardner, as well as her husband (separated) Donald Coleman.
Family and friends will forever remember Niecy for the fierce love she had for her family, and the warmth she shared with everyone she met.
She will be missed beyond words and remembered beyond measure.
