Darryl Williams' Obituary
Darryl Lane Williams, affectionately known as "Duck", was born July 12, 1963 in Newark, NJ to Robert and Stacy Williams as the oldest of three boys.
Duck was a product of the Newark Public School system attending Abington Avenue School, becoming an avid Jets fan, along with his father. In 1980, two years early at the age of 16, he graduated Science High School where he had made major contribution to the wrestling, track and football teams.
Upon graduation, he matriculated at William Penn University (formerly College) in Oskaloosa, Iowa graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting Degree (minor in Business) on a four-year Athletic Scholarship, making the Dean's list multiple times.
After graduation, he went to hold many Sr. Accounting and Tax positions at several Fortune 500 companies, including Unilever and National Starch. He also completed the requirements to become and Enrolled Agent with the IRS which allowed him the privilege of representing taxpayers before the IRS. Darryl also held a position as a Tax Accountant with his good friend Gary Garris of Garris & Co. in Newark for over 30 years.
He later returned to school to further his professional career and obtained his Master of Science in Taxation from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. Additionally, he completed all courses and axams to obtain his CPA designation.
In 1989, Darryl was joined in matrimony with Lucinda Cherry (1989-1998). From that union, Da'sia Monique (1990) and Brnija Nichole (1993) were born. He absolutely loved his girls and was very proud of their accomplishments.
In 1998, Darryl moved to Palm Springs, California where he worked as an Accountant at Desert Dusiness Associates in Indio, Ca and Heimstetler & Scott in Palm Desert, CA before returning to New JErsey in 2009.
September 2014, Darryl became a grandfather to twin boys Liam and Ezra who he enjoyed spending time with especially to play chess, watch and play football.
In his later years, he was diagnosed with cancer and valiantly fought. Keeping a good spirit during that battle until his sudden death of March 12, 2024.
Duck helped many and was loved by even more. Those who have ever come in contact with him can attest to Darryl being a witty jokester and always remaining positive with a level head. Aside from being a jokester, he enjoyed watching the Jets play, dunking cookies in milk and reading the newspaper keeping abreast of the stock market.
Darryl was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Stacy Williams.
