Annette Tyree's Obituary
Our much-loved Annette Tyree affectionately known as "Sissy", transitioned peacefully at home
on January 14, 2025. Sissy was born in Orange, New Jersey, on July 18, 1941, to the late John
E. Thomas Sr. and the late Elizabeth Dickerson-Thomas. She was the youngest of two children.
Sissy matriculated through the Orange School System and graduated from Orange High School.
She met and married William B. Tyree in December of 1961 and from this marriage evolved four
children: Carol, William (Troy), Gary, and Joseph. In later years James (Mark) was born to Sissy
and Jack Everett.
Sissy was a treasured member of the city of Orange Township Community and resided in Orange
for over 80 Years. On her 80th Birthday, she was honored and presented with a Proclamation
from the Mayor of Orange. On that day, she was recognized as an outstanding citizen of the City
of Orange. Sissy spent most of her professional life caring for others. She was known throughout
the community for her selfless dedication to helping others and leaving a lasting impact on countless
lives. Her compassion, generosity, and unwavering support touched the hearts of many during her
work in the Nursing homes. Sissy retired from the Orange Housing Authority in 2010.
Sissy enjoyed playing softball, skating, bowling, dancing, and watching her beloved NY Giants play
football as she was a huge fan. Sissy was a force of nature with a spirit as bright as the sun. Feisty,
fierce, quick witted, and loving. She was a devoted family member and a pillar of strength to those
who knew her. Sissy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and unforgettable memories. She will
be forever cherished by those who were blessed enough to share time and space with her. Her parents, and brother, preceded her in death. Mother, Elizabeth Dickerson-Thomas, Father, John

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Carol Jean Tyree, William Troy Tyree
(Stephanie), Gary Scott Tyree, Joseph Jay Tyree (Corinne), James Martin (Mark) Tyree, Daughter -
in-law Erika Tyree, Sister-in-law Sharon Perkins-Jennings. Fourteen Grandchildren as well as a host
of Great-Grand Children and friends. Bonus children, nieces and nephews that Sissy was crazy
about include Lauren, Darren, Dina, William (Patrick), Skeet, and Tiffany.
