Diane’s Life StoryChaplain Diane L. Ross-Berry was the second born to the late Maynard Ross Sr. and Joyce Phillips-Ross. She made a grand entrance to the world on February 28,1951. She arrived at her new heavenly home on Saturday, April 24, 2021.In 1966, she had her oldest son Dana and second son Daru in 1974. She and her sons had a fun-filled and well-fed life growing up. In 2002, she married her sweetheart for the better part of 32 years, Chaplain James E. Berry. She gained 3 daughters, Jamesa, Monay, and Sharay. They had a very adventurous marriage. Their union consisted of vacations both home and abroad. They were partners in ministry, in parenthood, in friendship, and in charity work. Diane was the first to introduce many of her family members to Christ, whom she loved dearly and remained focused on for the rest of her very fashionable and Christ-like life. She retired from the City of Newark's Water Department after 27 years of dedicated service. Chaplain Berry was a member of The Love of Jesus Family Church in Orange, NJ for over 15 years. She was a member of clergy at RozierTemple Church of God in Christ in Harlem, NY. Diane was one of the founding members of United Chaplain International Worldwide Outreach where she was aninstructor for over 13 years in New York and New Jersey. She whole-heartedly enjoyed ministering to and counselling people! She ministered in prisons, hospitals, hospice, to her family, to her friends, and her neighborhood. She was a Christian Counselor with her husband for 15 years. Need-less to say, she was a very dedicated and loving person that never met a stranger. To know her is to love her! She loved writing biblical tracks, she created so many you would have lost count. She shared a love of sewing, fashion, makeup, shopping, travelling, encouraging, and spreading the Gospel. She told some of the funniest and craziest jokes that always kept us laughing and scratching our heads. She’d been told several timesthat she should write a book. She also had her own language called “Diane-ese”. Diane was predeceased by her parents Maynard Ross and Joyce Phillips-Ross and her sister Brenda Ross-Johnson. She is survived by her husband and life partner, Chaplain James E. Berry. Her siblings, Maynard Ross, Jr. and Delores RossRobinson. Her children, Dana, Daru, Jamesa, Monay, and Sharay. Her grandchildren, Seniece, Dajai, Makiyh, Travis, Ahmad, Stephannie, and Brooklyn. Along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved chaplains.
